7 Sept – The benefits of reading, reciting and memorizing “Ayat Kursi” in Surah al-Baqarah verse 255 are enormous and abundant. This was the topic of discussion for the Tazkirah session presented by Ustazah Azrin Ibrahim. According to her, the notable advantages derived from the verse of Ayat Kursi are as follows:

1. Blessings contained therein as mentioned in a Hadith which was reported that Rasulullah SAW said:

“Qur’an is a great word, and Surah al-Baqarah is the leader of the Qur’an and Ayatul Kursi is the leader of Surah al-Baqarah. In Ayat Kursi there are 50 words and for each word there are 50 blessings and good in it.”

2. A shield to protect one’s self, children and property ;
3. A provider of light in the realm of the grave (‘alam qubur);
4. Increase one’s ability to memorize;
5. Frequent recitation makes one’s own death easy; and
6. As a means to make one’s heart a thankful one (Shakireen).
