2015 ENDS WITH FIVE RISDEV STUDENTS GETTING THE NOD

ISDEV students never missed a chance to jot down some notes from the presentations
Another five RISDEV (ISDEV Postgraduates by Research) students get the approval to proceed with the next level of their PhD pursuits. They are Mohammad Salleh Abdullah, Zaharah Ghazali, Sakinatul Radiyah Abdullah, Azuar Juliadi and Wan Khairul Aiman Wan Mokhtar. One of them, Sakinatul Radiyah presented her PhD proposal while the other four defended the final draft of their PhD theses.

Their PhD proposal and final PhD drafts presentations were spread out into two sessions with two different days and was held at University Conference Hall, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). The first session was held on 30 December 2015 and started at 9.00 am while the second session was continued on the next day, 31 December 2015 at 2.00 pm. Both sessions were well attended as all the students took the chance to listen, gave comments and ideas as well as gained insights and knowledge from the presentations.

Mohammad Salleh Abdullah, Zaharah Ghazali and Sakinatul Radiyah Abdullah were slotted for the first session. Mohammad Salleh presented his final PhD draft on "Sistem Penyampaian Perkhidmatan Wakaf Berteraskan Islam (SPPWBI): Satu Kajian Teoritis" (Islamic-based Waqf Service Delivery System: A Theoretical Study) while Zaharah Ghazali presented on "Exporting Activity from Islamic Perspective and its Impact on Export Performance". Their theses were evaluated by Dr. Fadzila Azni Ahmad for Mohammad Salleh while Zaharah was evaluated by Associate Professor Dr. Zakaria Bahari.

The last candidate of the first session was Sakinatul Radiyah with her thesis proposal on “Pengurusan Pembiayaan Harta Wakaf di Malaysia: Satu Analisis Perbandingan" (Financing Management of Waqf Assets in Malaysia: A Comparative Analysis) and was evaluated by Dr. Shahir Akram Hassan. She is under the main supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Zakaria Bahari.

The next day, the second session saw Azuar Juliadi and Wan Khairul Aiman Wan Mokhtar took their turn to present their final draft PhD Thesis with Dr. Fadzila Azni Ahmad chairing the session. Azuar Juliadi presented his final draft on "Budaya Organisasi Islam di Bank-bank Syariah Kota Medan, Indonesia" (Cultural Organization of Islamic Banks in the City of Medan, Indonesia) while Wan Khairul Aiman presented his PhD proposal on "Masalah Pembangunan dalam Hadith Kajian Al- Maudu'iy Berdasarkan Kitab Sahih Al- Bukhary" (Development Issues in the Thematic Study of Hadith based on Sahih al-Bukhary). Associate Professor Dr. Zakaria Bahari evaluated Azuar Juliadi’s final draft while Dr. Fadzila Azni Ahmad evaluated Wan Khairul Aiman’s final draft.

After a detailed evaluation, all candidates finally received the good tidings that their PhD research proposal and final drafts were accepted. They had all been given the endorsement to proceed with their theses proper under the supervision of their respective supervisors.
