The tireless efforts of 13 writers from ISDEV (Centre for Islamic Development Management Studies) were paid well when their books were officially launched during the Vice-Chancellor New Year’s Message for 2014 held at the Dewan Tunku Syed Putra, Universiti Sains Malaysia on 8 January, 2014.

It was more exciting when all the 12 books showcasing the close knit collaboration between ISDEV and Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) was officially launched by the Yang Di-Pertua Negeri of Pulau Pinang, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas.

All 12 books centre around Islamic development and analyzed issues ranging from economics, social and political, asset management, and health among others based on the Islamic worldview and episteme. ISDEV Director Prof. Muhammad Syukri Salleh said the publication of the books by DBP is expected to contribute to the development of the society with Islamic values. He added that what was more remarkable was that all the 12 books were the results of the hard work and persistent commitment given by ISDEV members under the strict guidance and advice from the professional team of DBP's editors.

The process in the makings of these books started as early as January 2012, and with the close rapport forged between ISDEV members and DBP's editors, these books were successfully completed within the prescribed period of time albeit the struggles and juggling of various responsibilities that each ISDEV member had to handle. With this display of ability, working hard within the time frame prescribe, ISDEV is confident of producing more scholarly books for the market with a target of 20 books to be published by early next year.

He also thanked the authors for their hard work in making the official launch of these 12 books a reality that day. ISDEV would be known not only as a center of study but is also capable of providing spiritual food to the spiritual-deficient community that hungers for reading materials based on Islamic worldview and episteme.
