It has been narrated on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (salallahu 'alaihi wassalam) said : Do not desire an encounter with the enemy; but when you encounter them, be firm [Hadith from the Translation of Sahih Muslim, Book 19: The Book of Jihad and Expedition (al-Jihad wal Siyar), Chapter 6, Hadith Number 4313].
