On Monday, 1 March 2010 saw a large number of ISDEV members at the Penang International Airport (PIA) to send off their beloved Director, Professor Muhammad Syukri Salleh off to Jeddah. His flight was scheduled to fly off at 1200hrs to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) where he would board the connecting flight to Jeddah from the KLIA scheduled at 1545hrs. Before boarding his flight at the PIA, Professor Syukir took time to take photographs with members who were there and even managed to return the comments made on a few of his students’ theses. A doa was recited by ISDEV Post-Doctoral Fellow, Dr Miftahurrahim, just before Professor Syukri and his family entered the PIA’s security area.

Throughout his four months’ sabbatical in Jeddah, Professor Syukri will report directly at the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB). He is expected to carry out his research on the Management of Poverty according to Islam whilst in Jeddah.
