Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa reported: We were on a journey with the
Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, during the month of
Ramadan. When the sun began to set, the Prophet said to a man, “Dismount and prepare a barely drink for us.” The man said, “O Messenger of Allah, there is still daylight.” The Prophet said, “Dismount and prepare a barely drink for us.” The man dismounted, prepared the drink, and gave it to the Prophet. The Prophet drank it and then he said while pointing, “When you see the sun set and night has come from the east, then it is time to break the fast.” [Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 1855, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 1101.
