Surrounded by books, books and more books. The intellectually stimulating environment at the ongoing Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2014 |
ISDEV Director, Professor Muhammad Syukri Salleh was on a shopping trip to Kuala Lumpur recently. However his intention was purely for the benefit of ISDEV as he was there to purchase books for ISDEV Resource Centre. He was seen on a buying spree at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2014 (KLIB 2014) which is being held at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) since 24 April, 2014 until 4 May, 2014.

However this trip was made more special as Prof. Syukri did not shop alone. He was presented with a great opportunity and honour as one of the distinguished members of the ISDEV Advisory Council, Pehin Orang Kaya Lela Raja Dato Seri Laila Jasa Hj Awang Abdul Rahman Hj Abdul Karim was with him throughout the shopping haven of books.
The books contributed by Pehinas as a waqf to ISDEV |
In fact what was more astounding and fortunate was that Pehin generously donated a total of 106 books of various genres to ISDEV. All these books were purchased at the exhibition. The genres include Research Methodology, Islamic Economics, Islamic Politics, Human Management and a set of Tafsir Ibnu Kathir (Volumes 1-10). The books are estimated to be worth RM8,000. Pehin had generously endowed them as a waqf to ISDEV Resource Centre. He hoped that these books willbe well referred to and utilised by ISDEV lecturers and students alike.
